ZHL GENERAL MANAGER: |

While fighting in the league has steadily decreased in recent years, there's still clearly a place in the game for a tough guy who's willing to drop the gloves. It was with that mindset the Predators signed Brantt Myhres, a 6-3, 220-pound right wing who spent the last two seasons with the San Jose organization. The Predators were one of just three teams in the league last year -- along with Boston and the New York Rangers -- not to have a single player rack up at least 100 penalty minutes. When the Predators dealt defenseman Bob Boughner at the trading deadline, and then shipped out left wing Patrick Cote during the offseason, it meant the team was that much thinner in the toughness department. Heading into this season, it appears Myhres -- and or defenseman Marco Moro and left wing Ryan Tobler -- will have to pick up the slack. None of the three has played a complete NHL season, so it seems Predators general manager David Poile is giving all three a chance to step into a more significant role this year. |
