The Kings used their first-round pick in the NHL draft, 20th overall, on LW Alexander Frolov. The seventh-ranked European prospect, he scored five goals in six games to help Russia win the silver medal at the 2000 World Junior Championships. "My style, I don't know. I just score goals," Frolov said. "Alexander Frolov brings a little bit of everything to the table," GM Dave Taylor added. "He has very good size, he is a good skater and he has scoring ability when he gets in tight around the net. He also has a good, long reach and he sees the ice well." ... On June 28, the Kings re-signed restricted free agent LW Craig Johnson to a multi-year contract. He played a career-high 76 games last season, totaling nine goals and 14 assists. ... The day before, Los Angeles exercised its option on veteran C Bob Corkum, who had five goals and six assists in 45 games. ... The Kings lost D Sean O'Donnell and LW Steve McKenna to the Minnesota Wild in the expansion draft. |
